Fibers

It's been brought to my attention that some folks might be interested in my earlies fibers, back when I began as a weaver. Here are a few selected images that show my progression from woven tapestries, fabrics, and rugs to wearables, knitted and pieced. My focus is now on art quilts and surface design as can be seen on the other gallery pages.

Please, bear in mind that all these images are scanned slides and were taken long before my digital talents!

A seersucker blanket woven with a wool weft on a cotlin warp. Basted on an antique tie-up.

Detail of Kings Fancy rag rug 3'x 5'. Cotton rag strips on linen warp. Again, based on an antique draft.

The Kings Fancy rug and the seersucker blanket were woven as final interpretive pieces for the Handweavers Guild of America Master Certificate recieved in 1978. The Historicay Society, in the town where I livedat the time, was given a metal can filled with old weaving drafts. I redrafted them to today's standards, wove samples of each, and then wove contemporary interpretations of three of them.
